Liberation Day 2026 Email Template

Here’s the Liberation Day email template to send to your MP and our beloved Prime Minister. Feel free to copy and paste it into your email. You can find the contact information for your MP here.

Also an FYI: from my experience with writing letters for Amnesty International it’s always a better idea to include the text of the letter in the body of the email itself rather than attaching it as a separate file because no one wants to open an attachment from an unknown email address. Thanks for your work in helping ten of thousands of Canadians in need!

Subject: Proposal: The Liberation Day Lottery — A New Canadian Tradition

Dear [MP’s Name or Prime Minister [Name]],

I’m writing in support of a new national tradition that celebrates fairness, empathy, and renewal — all the things we value as Canadians: The Liberation Day Lottery.

Every July 1st, all billionaires who reside in Canada will be automatically entered into a national lottery. The winner — selected at random — will have their assets peacefully and joyfully nationalized, with the proceeds redistributed directly to the poorest Canadians.

In exchange, the chosen billionaire receives something money can’t buy: a fresh start and the chance to experience the rejuvenating excitement of rebuilding their wealth. In that sense, Liberation Day is not only a profound act of national empathy but an opportunity for billionaires to show the lazier elements of our fine nation how you can rebuild a billion dollar fortune with simple work ethic.

To commemorate their sacrifice, a statue will be erected in their honour, and their name is to be etched onto the Liberation Cup — a Stanley Cup-style national trophy engraved each year with the name of the billionaire who enjoyed the privilege of helping their fellow Canadians. It would travel coast-to-coast-to-coast, reminding us that prosperity, when shared, multiplies.

I look forward to your government enacting The Liberation Day Lottery Act (that’s a working title, you can obviously rename it to something you might find more appropriate).

Thank you for your time, your service, and your willingness to dream on behalf of the people you represent.

Yours sincerely,
