In Country III: I win! U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!

Sweet! Finally some recognition and all I had to do was leave my own country. It is 3h15 PST and the kid is liquored and happy as Fear of a Brown Planet took the Best Solo Comedy Award at this year's San Francisco fringe. I would like to thank all my American friends here for helping make my first prolonged stay in the US such a good time. More deep thoughts after I sober up.

In Country Part II:

The shows here have been fantastic. Very happy with the love SF has been showing me. Although they don't have as much press coverage for the festival here, the fringers are pretty hardcore and word of mouth works just as well as a good review in a weekly. I've also had a couple of interviews. The first one was a podcast for Cool As Hell Theatre. We had to do it in the basement of the theatre because getting a quiet location was tricky. I'm hoping the interview will help out my demographic (as I've never met a pimp, playah or hustler in the theatre world). The second one was for KPOO radio here. I'll have it up as soon as possible. Sweet! More as it comes in, cool kids!

In Country:

Sorry, it's taken me so long to get everyone up to speed. It's been good times here south of the border.

I came in on the 6th from Toronto via North Carolina. Had a genuine zany moment on the plane ride from NC. I was sitting at the window seat when I decided I needed to go to the washroom. So I turned to the two Americans next to me:

Me: Sorry, I just have to go to the washroom.

Them: Sorry?

Me: I just have to go the the washroom.

Them: What?

Pause here then,

Me: I need to go to the bathroom.

Them: Oh.

And then they got out of the way. Seriously? Did that just happen?

Also, I took a moment to check out the safety card on the flight in from NC. There were what were obvious illustrations that showed smoking in the washroom with a this is forbidden sign. However, disturbingly enough, there was also a picture of a black man who appeared to be flirting with a white woman and this was also under the do nots section. Now I have to assume that maybe it was because they were hanging out in the aisle or that maybe, everything you've ever wanted to know about North Carolina but were afraid to ask is true.

The shows have been great here. The kid has a bit of buzz going. Feel free to check out the reviews of my shizzow at www.sffringe.org.

More as it comes in. Stay tuned, cool kids!
