More Sweet Youtube Action

Hey cool cats,

Here's another video I recently posted on youtube. Regardless of what you think, I feel no shame. I said it. It had to be said.

Did Somebody Say Videos?

No. No actually, no one said "videos." But I still have some for you guys. Okay, I have one so far courtesy of the good people at Just For Laughs. If you're interested in knowing waaay too much about my sex life, click here for a little giggle (or to be offended depending on who you are). More to come soon and there will be variety since I don't want my first impression to be cock jokes only (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Also, here are some lists I did for CBC's The Hour.

THE SHOWS

Here's a little history of what I've done to keep myself (and some entertainment critics) busy over the past few years. I'm still trying to get the poster up for Fear of a Brown Planet as it was pretty cool.

Fear of a Brown Planet

This was my first one man show and it premiered (or is that debuted?) at the Toronto Fringe festival in 2004. It focuses on the how race is seen in the entertainment industry and how it affects perception, sex and career. It's a lot more fun than this write up makes it seem but I spent all my gold on stage so you're going to have to settle for this.

"...Seguin has laughing audiences in the palm of his hand...has a comic ease with an audience...delivers more laughs and entertainment than most comedy clubs." - Eye Magazine

"...funny, uncompromising and intelligent...this is comedy doing what it should – provoking us, changing us and making us laugh." - Now Magazine

"...razor-sharp wit...perceptive, confrontational and...unabashedly gutsy... one of the best comedic sets you will see in Montreal or anywhere." - The Hour Magazine (Montréal)

"...digs a provocative pot of gold out of the potentially explosive terrain of race relations. His pointed wit simultaneously prods brain and funnybone...No one escapes his spectral arc of illuminated idiocy...puts the comedic pedal to the metal, so put your brain in high gear to keep up for the entire 55 minutes...has a unique ability to deliver raw messages so good-naturedly that audience discomfort never gets in the way of receptivity. You’ll leave the show laughing. " — Winnipeg Free Press

"...breakaway-paced...maneuvering through the potentially explosive subject of race in today’s society, and somehow gets the (mostly white) audience laughing and thinking even as we’re struggling to keep up...funny, sharp and self-aware...he isn’t afraid to call it as he sees it...No one is immune from his pointed humour." — CBC

"...successfully balances tough issues with witty banter and jokes...Seguin turns his tragedy into comedy...This hilariously dark comedy was well crafted, brilliantly performed and extremely thought-provoking." — SA - Uptown

"...this is obviously a guy equipped with a pointed and potent sense of humour." - Edmonton Journal

"...wryly astute...politically sharp and pointed...No lazy jokes here...material here does make you think." - Vue Weekly

"Nile Séguin is a hell of a funny guy. We're talking should - be - household - name - with - his - own - seven - figure - contract funny here...fierce intelligence and biting wit...Séguin will have you laughing your guts out while shaking your head at humanity’s absurd and utterly illogical views on matters of race." - See Weekly

Evil is the New Good

This was my second one man show and was more of a return to my stand up comedy roots. It focused on various topics that I felt weren't being addressed. Making it all funny was a pretty big challenge but I think I managed to pull it off.

"...mind-blowingly funny...nice, loosely woven bit of storytelling...no stone is left unturned. Put this guy on TV!" - Montreal Mirror

"...the follow-up to his darkly funny Fringe debut, Fear Of A Brown Planet...one of the city's most daring stand-up comics, one of those guys who gets an equal number of laughs and "Did I just hear that?" gasps...Get ready for some intelligent social and political observations you won't see on prime time." - Now Magazine

History: Deleted Scenes and Extras

This was my third one man show. It centered around history (which you probably guessed by the title), how it's taught, what we were taught and more specifcally what we weren't taught. I tried to do with history what I did for race in my first show.

"Nile Seguin’s History: Deleted Scenes and Extras. Seguin’s razor sharp yet good-natured observations about how the world works have made him a favourite with Fringe audiences (Fear of a Brown Planet) and CBC viewers (The Hour) alike." - The Mirror

"...tackles taboo subjects with an incisive wit and a hard slap of common sense...brilliant...his easy-going, confident and ultimately challenging persona will keep you thinking long after the chuckles stop." - The Hour (Montréal weekly magazine)

"The best and highest expressions of comedy have both righteous anger and befuddlement at humanity’s destructive failings as the subtext; Mr.Séguin’s chatty monologue has this behind his good natured delivery. A very funny show... I dig this show and I think you will too." - Indyish.com

"A charmer... he asks the questions most of us keep to ourselves." - Winnipeg Sun

"...rips apart what we thought we knew about the western world and re-arranges it with intelligence and irony...The show is smart, Nile Séguin is sweet, and you’ll leave with something to think about...Nile shines (his one-man game of broken telephone is a joy)...for intelligent entertainment this show is definitely a winner." - CBC

"...bravely taking on touchy subjects such as the Rwandan genocide, gun control and residential schools...if you like Jon Stewart, you'll probably like this guy." - Uptown
